I was running around a constuction site and picked up a nail on the edge of the sidewall of my Michelin CT. At this point I only need 1 tire to replace the one that picked up the nail. My 4Runner has the Michelin CTs. I had always assumed that they were the second pair of tires on my '04 4Runner since there was so much tread on the tires (second owner - I purchased the truck with 25k miles). I now have around 33k.
After checking mfg date code (0904 = ninth week of 2004) I realized that my '04 4Runner still has the original 5 tires.
The replacement cost of a single tire pains me when tirerack is asking $185 (I haven't checked Cosco yet). But based on the amount of tread left on my truck, I have to say that I am extremely impressed with the treadwear. I also like the ride of the truck on the highway. Overall I like everything about the tire except its cost. But based on the tread left at this point, the tire will certainly last 60k to 70k (the surviving 4 are more that half way there).
The only thing is that I live in Texas so I don't have to worry about snow (I'm from Erie, PA, so been there... done that).
My $.02 is that the Michelin Cross Terrain is an excellent tire.... now just to find them at a reasonable price.
