The areas cricled in red are important.
The negative battery cable removed- will also reset the car
One plug wire removed from drivers side- the 3 were the hard side to manuver around things the passenger side plugs took 5 minutes to change once you move the air filter.
Engine top cover removed
Oh yeah the instructions are a PITA for the AFE CAI and the vaccum hose supplied was 5" too small had to buy another one.

The maintenance secton here helped me very well. Similar jobs I've doen before with spark plugs. After install of all plugs, put cover n batter on started her up(after a start hiccup) then all was good not great good, ran fine down the block around the corner n home. hope to get more BAM after CAI install n fluids, think I will clean the throttle body- its in front of me might as well.

Thanks kylebacc. Changing plugs on the T4R V6 was much easier than my old Jeep GC V8. I knew the plugs were overdue by miles and looking at them, now seeing comments on them justifies it more.
Getting ready to finish the CAI install now that I have a longer vaccum tube and called AFE tech support on a quick help. They were great, Brian, on hold for 20 seconds. Hope the CAI is good. Post pics later today.

WOW. My T4R feels like ???? a bear? A WRX? It's says will save mpg but kinda hard when ur you keep hittin the gas:lookout:. I can see how some may not like it but at idle or under 2000rpm you don't notice it. The new plugs and CAI are AWESOME!!! The Dynamic Duo!
4glimited I would not trust the stealership. Do your own research and decide for yourself. I have used higher performance products for many years- not recommended by stealerships- with great results.

Some notes- on AFE CAI Yeah as said the directions seriously need a redo, but product :thumb3: Red Circles, left to right
1. Keep all hose clamps snug but loose when first attaching, you have to adjust pipe to have attachment screw for protective engine cover
2. Brass nipple goes into this brass fitting already placed from the factory for the small 5/32 vaccum hose.
3. MAF sensor be sure to use afe supplied screws, plastic thick washers/spacers and gasket.
4. This brass screw as afe said unscrews off the OE unit then screw onto afe. It’s used as one of the mounting screws for engine cover.
5. Larger vaccum hose goes here. DO NOT mistakenly screw brass nipple here. Did I say that from experience? I plead the fifth.
5. Keep all hose clamps snug but loose when first attaching, you have to adjust pipe to have attachment screw for protective engine cover. Make sure the both rubber fittings are properly placed (one for filter one for throttle body) and clamps are on the units before tightening
I had a problem and called AFE help desk, Brian at AFE was on the phone in 30 seconds and in 1 minute hepled me with the fitting question. Thanks Brian.
Also tundra solutions has a video (youtube?) tutorial for AFE CAI install, found 2 of them on there.
End result, great product, not perfect easy install with supplied directions but with research you can do it on your own. I am one very happy T4R owner!

Isn't a tune / engine recalibration necessary when doing a CAI????

If you want the most power yes. I did with my URD MAF cali.

MAF mass air flow sensor. URD? cali? I read that the recalibrate was done when you remove neg batt cable for 5-10 min but then you need to set auto windows, set radio stations etc which is what I did.... correct?
