My 95' T4R SR5 has been setting for around 15 months due to a bad exhaust valve in the #1 cylinder, and well y'all know how life just gets in the way of things. I ended up buying a new daily driver (1997 Mustang Cobra) and now its in need of some major work, so I decided its time to get out of the slump and get my 4Runner running again. I ordered a rebuilt head off ebay Thursday last week (Aug 20th) and I still need to get the head bolts, gaskets and seals, but all in the next few days. A while back I pulled some parts off; upper intake, fuel rails, stuff like that, but got side tracked with other stuff, so at least that stuff will be out of the way and I'll have some time saved in teardown. Looking forward to the long Labor Day weekend I have coming up to get the work done. I figured September would be my test and tune month and then get her back on insurance towards the latter part of the month. If everthing is good to go, I will take my Cobra off insurance in October for some over the winter work.
I'm really hoping all goes well, I've missed my 4Runner for a long time and I can't wait to get her back on the road again! Winters aren't that bad here in far west Texas, but there were a few days last winter I did wish I could have driven my 4Runner instead of my Cobra.
