this spring, we needed an 'inexpensive' car for one temporarily for one of my kids and i decided to give my daughter my big truck and get something for just running around since i am the least 'caring' about vehicles - they are vehicles, not status symbols or whatever.

bought this 95 3.0 4x4 AT Limited with 181K miles. did maintenance to it and fixed various nagging items. it runs fine and most everything works except the rear window does not go up with the key and the CD (original stereo) does not work. also, front seats were work out so i replaced the with grey cloth in good shape. otherwise, decent truck.

now my wife is buying a new car and giving hers to my daughter and i get my big truck back. so, i'm going to sell the 4runner.

anyone here can give me a ballpark of where to start pricing ? i know it's worth more than the blue book in my mind. 187K now. thanks.

I can't help with a 2nd gen, and it's very dependant on your area. My Mother just sold a '92 Celica with 222k in Colorado for $1,000, wouldn't have gotten more than $600 in Wisconsin...

The high mileage will scare off a lot of people that don't know about Toyota. The 3.slow will scare off a lot of people that do know due to the headgasket issues.

basically - in fair condition, 4275. good 4900. it isn;t perfect but it is a lot nicer than when i first got it. i have spent a few hours between the junk yard and the driveway doing various maintenance:

replace radiator.
new tires.
new battery.
new distributor cap and rotor.
replace broken door handle.
repair cruise control.
new coolant.
replace transmission fluid and screen filter (shifts perfectly).
replace brake master cylinder.
replace driver side front quater panel
add transmission cooler.
replace CV axles.

cranks the 1st time within 2 seconds and runs fine - 4x4 works good when i've taken it on gravel roads.

See, to me my ride is a status symbol. I wanted something tough, old, awesome, and that I can nurse to full health while enjoying my ride. I love being a 4Runner guy. :cheers:

If you gave me a brand new Yukon or Sequoia, I'd sell it, use about $20,000 to put my Runner in original condition, and then bank the rest. :whipping2

I love my battered 2nd gen, I particularly like pulling alongside a Cayenne or X5 and looking down at the driver with an expression that says, "that's right; this is what a real off-road vehicle looks like"

generally, i look down on them from my 03 Expedition KNOWING this is what a real truck looks like. I like the 4Runner - but i can't have so many vehicles, more than one per driver. so ... i sell it now.

btw, mine's not really battered ... I drove it on a 120 mile round trip Sunday - ran fine as usual. :naughty:
