Time to order my lift.. ICON

Sold my old 2nd gen today..I about to pull the trigger on a lift kit.:thumb3:
I think I'm pretty set on getting the ICON Stage 1 kit and some Total Chaos UCAs.
Thoughts?? Also looking into some sliders. Got some research do do. Any suggestions?

If your spending that much, look into radflo. There valved specifically for the 4runner and have better rear shocks than the Icon stage one. I'm planning on pulling the trigger on the radflo 2.5 kit as soon as I get the funds for 285's.

I've been reading up on the radflos past few days.. I have read a few places that they are a little stiff compared to the icons.. Not sure how much truth there is in that. I have just heard almost nothing but good things about icons from people who run them.
 
Call Icon and talk to Brad and get them with the remote reservoir with the CDC valves then you can literally dial in your ride. I love them on my third gen and they offer them for the 4th gen. Worth every penny for this upgrade.

For ordering use a company like a Down South Motorsports. They will insure your shock valving is correct and they offer a Desert a Products UCA's. DSM builds race trucks and is an authorized rebuild center for most of the top brands. They know these shocks inside & out. Super nice to deal with too.

I think ICON or Radflo coilovers are both fantastic setups. From my research the Icons come valved a bit softer than the Radflos 'out of the box'. The spring rates are also different if you don't request otherwise which contributes to this. It's important you speak with the folks at Icon or Radflo or a vendor (I'd back up egbt18's suggestion for down south motorsports). Explain your needs and what kind of ride you're looking for and get them valved for your application. They should be able to guide you towards the setup and valving that will meet your performance and ride quality needs.

Case in point - as you stated about the radflos, a lot of people think they're too stiff. I sent countless PMs back and forth w/ the OW guys before purchasing my radflos so I could understand what they were valved for, the weight they were valved for, etc.

In the end there's no substitute for talking to the folks who actually build or service the coilovers. Sorry if this ended up as a bit of rambling but I just hate to see folks drop a load of money and not get a setup that fits the bill.

I can think of a lot of stock cars that I've been in that are stiffer and ride worse than my Radflos. Pretty much every 3 series BMW, mazda 3, 370z, G37, Ford Excursion, FX35, Corvette Z06, 3rd gen 4runner on bilsteins and many more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

I really don't think it's stiff at all. If anything it's just a bit more "feel the road" over the small stuff, and the big hits get absorbed way better than stock and are nice and soft. Then again the_josh mentioned that my Radflos seem softer than his when he had them, but maybe they ride better with the reservoirs on my setup.

Where are you in SoCal? I'm in north OC, but we go down to North County SD a lot (this weekend in fact). I'm running Icons and MT LT. with TC UCAs. Let me know if you want to meet up to check it out or test ride!

Im sure they ride great.. And as long as you are happy, thats all that matters. Ive heard great things about them.
