I do have questions. What did Volant cai do for you?
How about the throttle body spacer?? Did you do them at same time or one before another? The Volant made more difference than the throttle spacer right?
Now how about those tires? I am shopping right now for revos-top choice, considering Goodyear Silent Armors(275/70-17), Nitto Terra Grapplers, and Cooper Discoverer's St's. I would like to go big with 285's, but worried about fit. Also deciding between 265/65 or 70. Leaning toward 70's. Or if Goodyear that gives me the 275 option.
So how did your 285's fit and why do you have BFGoodrich MTs on order? I have not heard too many good things about them, of course, I could be wrong. But or tirerack reviews I saw some say that the Revo's were upgrade to the MTs.

I should have mentioned that I do have my 03 ltd lifted with the OME suspension. That's one of the reasons I'm looking to upsize. Along with the fact, this summer and fall I want to get out and explore the back country of California, Been to Frank Raines ORV park and Hollister Hills are about 45 minutes from home. And there are a few weekend 4 wheel festival/events I want to attend.
I want my 4runner somewhat civilized for semi daily use and to be comfortable on the long freeway trips to the events-which seems to make the revo the choice(or still maybe GY silent armor or Nitto Grappler) Decisions are killin me. :beer:
If anyone of these goes on sale or local company has a special, I'll probably buy a set. I am ok now, but I want a new set of tires for my next adventure in a few weeks.
So although I do mostly on road, when I do take her off road, I want her to be as capable as possible. I have also been hanging with a bunch of FJ Cruiser drivers from FJCruiserforums.com. And I want to keep up with those guys off road. Couple weeks ago there was a high spot I high centered on and could't get enough grip to pull myself over. My longer vehicle length was the week point there. But it showed me I need a little more height and grip. That was on my michelins, which aren't much good off road, but some of the FJ's had the original Dunlops are much better off road. Off course, they do have the rear lockers, the bastards!!
Its just a matter of incremental improvements now.
Anywho, Thanks for the reply. I may just get the MT's and live with a little more noise. But I really like the driving position as quiet as possible.
Final question-have you seen the mt's on another rig that shows the wide stance?? Specifications show they are almost exact size as the Revos??

Don't trust the manufacturer's specs. The specs differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. If you're comparing tires from the same tire company, then it should be the same. I heard that each company differ in the way they measure tread width. It has to do with the design of the tread and where the tread begins and where the sidewall begins.
So, you have to measure or eyeball yourself.
I just like the way the MTs (any company) because they tend to have a sidewall biting tread (well... between the tread and sidewall) and this tends to hide the "concave" look of the corner edge (if you're looking at the tread side - front/rear view).
The TA KOs and Terra Grapplers tend to have squarer shoulder even though they are ATs.

Had to do some trimming. Just as I thought, even thought the Revos and the TA MTs were the same size, the TAs have a wider profile, so I had to cut some of the front fender liner and a bit of the wheel well trim.

Awesome! My favorite posting Ive seen and read yet. Your 4Runner is one of the nicest ones Ive seen anywhere (web or the streets!) AND Dont touch those wheels either!
Im a newbie, just got my 1st 4Runner and love it. Infact as many great cars and trucks as I've had in the past I cant remember a one now since I got this baby!
Im thinking about getting a 3" suspension lift like yours but was concerned about the ride quality. How does it compare to the original factory suspension? Am I going to sacrifice comfort and smooth handling for rugged looks and improved off road capabilities?

I could feel the ride to be little bit stiffer in the beginning, but after a month or so, I couldn't remember how the old setup felt. Got used to it quick.
If you're going to stick with stock tire size or a 265/70s then the spacer by itself should be just fine. If you intend to go with bigger tires, I suggest a body lift along with the spacer to clear the tires.
Spacers are cheaper, but since you don't have to save xreas, you might want to save up and do a whole suspension upgrade. Costs more, but it's more effective, I think.
I'm not an expert by any means... But this is what I know.

You T4R looks really nice. When mine grow up, it wants to be like yours. Mine is black.
I like the skid plate. I ordered mine from stealer (at cost) and will pick it up today.
This is just an idea. I think if you powder coat the step or the side of it in silver to match with the roof rack so the step doesn't look out of place and the black standout too much.
