Is it imperitive that the marks (dots, RCAM, LCAM...) be alligned with the marks on the engine? I installed a new timing belt on the crank pulleythen put the ps pulley, cover... back on without checking the marks. It seems like it wouldn't matter but I don't know. please help

If you mean the white lines marked on the belt...then NO...not important where or how the belt is orientated. This willonly help you if you open the motor back up to see if the belts still in the same place you left it.

If you mean the 3 alignments you need so that the cams are in time with the crank...then YES...they need to be timed or she ain't gonna run very well if at all.

The 3.0 V6 is a non interference engine...meaning the valves can not conact the pistion tops if out of time or if the belt breaks...slips...no matter...valves can not reach the pistons.

Good luck

Thanks Hairbear. I have the cams and the crank alligned, just the white marks off by a couple of teeth. I thought it would be ok, just didn't know if I was missing something.
