Timing belt busted tensioner

I was doing my timing belt tonight. everything is going smooth thinking that I would be done soon but then it happen.
I was compressing the tensioner pulley with the special tool then it just snap :wow2: shit !!!! I have no clue how old that tensioner pulley is but it just snap.
I wounder if this has ever happen to anyone that done timing belt.
I guess I'm glad that it snap now and not when im driving.
Now I just have to wait till tomorrow morning to buy a new one.

i just replaced everything my self got a great kit off ebay for 300

Finish this on tuesday. went to napa early in the morning and got the new idler pulley. With all the tune up I did for my truck lately I was able to get over 20mpg ^_^

Question for both of you. Did you take out just the radiator or the condenser also? I'm going to be doing this soon and was wondering how much of a pain it would be to get everything out of the way for a straight shot at the front of the engine.

You should be thanking your lucky stars it snapped then and not later when you are out on a lonely road in the middle of nowhere.

i took my rad out its only a few bolts

I left my rad in. I just put cardboard in behind to protect it. Seemed to go fine.

You dont have to take the radiator out but it would help to give you more room to work.

It is not that much work to take out the radiator so I would just take it out. But the condenser on the other hand I didnt touch.

(I needed to take it off since I didnt use any special tools to take off the crank pulley. I used an impact gun to take it off so I need that extra room to fit the impact gun in place)

:iagree: Breaking it now is only a wait till tomorrow to buy the pulley assy. But being stuck on a trail in middle of nowhere with that broken and no parts stores near would surely suck
