Timing Belt Done

HI.

I am new to the forum having just purchased an '02 4Runner. Mine has 132K on it. My question is: Are there any likely signs or is there any way to determine if the timing belt and water pump have been changed?

Thanks. Rob.

I'm actually wondering the same thing...

Mine has 120K on it and I'm not sure if the belt was ever replaced or not. There is no sticker, checked with local dealers and they haven't had the car in for the belt change. Doesn't mean it hasn't been changed by a 3rd party shop though...

Any other way of finding out? (signs to look for?)

thanks,

Houman

Not going to be any sure way to tell without a service sticker or receipt. Most likely you can assume it hasn't been done yet. A blown timing belt wont kill your engine on the 5VZ-FE, but it will surely leave you stranded.
