how the hell you have 2002 T4R with 60K?!?

you need to get her out of the garage..lol

given how my parts looked, at 200K, assuming previous owner didn't change them when I bought it at 100K, and for sure they weren't changed in the last 100K I had it for, I think you don't need to do TB, WP etc. yet. unless you see signs that you do need it!

I didn't know mechanics allow you to supply the parts.

Is that common?

I picked up a wiper motor (mine stopped working in the rain and while trying to impress a new lady- as if riding in a 3G wasn't good enough) from a junky and brought it to my dealer .
They installed for me.... I was able to save some good money at the time.

Still works.

Finally got the work done. The dealership received my 4Runner yesterday morning. They gave me a loaner Tacoma to drive. Got the belts, pulleys, water pump, and a couple other things I can’t remember changed. They also ran into a little problem with a 21 year old truck when pulling off one of the pulley bolts. The threads from the block came out with the bolt. So they also had to fix that with a Helicoil. I got the truck back today before dinner. Kinda glad I let them do this job since I would have been inexperienced fixing a broken bolt on the block of the engine. Parting with the money was the hardest step for me. But now I don’t have to think about getting this repair done again until 290k is on the odometer.
One last thing, all parts and labor are covered for one year.

A broken bolt is likely due to an impatient, or inexperienced tech. Though, sometimes they break, its really not hard to fix them yourself. Dont let knowledge be an obstacle to maintenance. Good to go for another 100k!

Thanks hombre. Just bought it from my Dad, he retired before he bought it, and just doesn't drive a lot, as they mostly drive my Mom's car, and in the winter they are elsewhere, and leave the truck with me. So, after a lil negotiating, it's mine, as they're buying a new car.
I just didn't know if a 16 year old timing belt/water pump was a good thing to forget about for another 40K miles, haha.

Thanks hombre. Just bought it from my Dad, he retired before he bought it, and just doesn't drive a lot, as they mostly drive my Mom's car, and in the winter they are elsewhere, and leave the truck with me. So, after a lil negotiating, it's mine, as they're buying a new car.

Well, there is a time recommendation on the belt--I think it is six years. But they are really tough. You are probably ok there. The WP is probably ok as long as the coolant was maintained.

It's not an incredibly difficult task, but it's very tedious. It's well worth doing it yourself, but for the $350 that the OP paid it might be worth it to just let someone do it. I hate letting mechanics touch my vehicles, but I thought about it.
