timing belt question

hi all just brought a nice used 95 sr5 v-6 3.0 4 runner clean truck,
just had it pa inspected, 124k miles, dont know any history on trk. my mechanic p.a in spected it, i asked him about timimg belt, he said. its not a valve bender model, what would you do if your trk ran great and was clean , i am a little worried about belt as on my accord i replaced it at 90k and it was like brandnew, but motor had to be opened up to replace it water pump etc, so i felt better, it cost $375 at local shop,,,,,on toyota they want $500 @ dealer and my shop wants same which is weird, hes always less but not now, thanks in advance for all info

Sounds like a nice truck but lets see a pic, anyway The timming belt is something you should think about having done sometime but if the other owner did it at 90K that would suck to tear it apart 30K later.

If I did mine I would go ahead and replace the water pump too.

If a timing belt goes south,, you are just plain stranded. Trouble is, they usually don't warn you ahead of time that they are gonna fail. Better safe than sorry, in my estimation.

I have a 95 SR5 too, i found out that the dealer had just 'Completely rebuilt' the engine. But i also find out they use the old water pump and timing belt, they had no history on either one. Isn't that unethical?

No just cheap, dealers suck they should be a last place to take car/truck when all else fails.

I can't imagine what they charged to rebuild a engine?

Are you sure the Dealer did the rebuild or just worked on the short block?

what do you mean by a "complete rebuild"bottom up?
