timing belt symptoms

1997 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 140,00 miles

sat for 4 days while out of town-
when i started it up today it made a couple of poping
noises.
I let it idle down /warmup
when I would accelerate in Reverse or Drive - it would make a series of pops again
runs a little rough

is this a symptom of a timing belt about to fail

Could possibly be as easy as a spark plug check them and your coil packs first

4 cylinder = timing chain, so no, it's not a timing belt symptom.

has it been wet outside, you may have some moisture in the distributor causing poor ignition
