Timing chain at 165k

So, im lookin at buying this 4runner, 99 with 164k, manual 5 speed 4x4, ~$5500. the timing chain/water pump needs to be done. i was wondering if there are other issues that could/should be addressed (things that maybe should be done), such as machining the head, valve job.. what other money heavy fixes could i be looking at if scheduled maintenance wasnt done in the past. any help is appreciated

Now is this the V6 or 4 cylinder?

Replace the radiator, serpentine/accessory belts. Change all the fluids (inc tranny/diffs/xfer case, and power steering)

If it a 3.4l v-6 it has a belt not a chain

it 3.4l, v6. so, i can do radiator, belts should be a couple hundred?? i was planning on doing all belts during the timing belt.. Anyone know what i would be lookin at to get the fluids replaced?

You're not looking at any really money-heavy fixes at that mileage. If you do some preventative stuff you should be fine. You can do transfer case and both diffs by yourself. The transmission flush should be less than 100 bucks, maybe a little more depending on synthetic vs. non-synthetic. You can also do power steering, coolant, etc. Depends on how thorough you want to get. I'm at 175k (got it at 161k) and I've done transfer case and both diffs. Getting ready to do power steering.

My main money spot has been suspension. At 160k, all of the bushings were shot. Tie rod ends and ball joints were pretty shot, too. I guess it just depends. These 3rd gen Runners are tanks in terms of engine, transmission, and transfer case. It's the little stuff that can get you.

theres very good kits on ebay for around 300 comes with everything for the timing belt and the drive belts even rad hose's

Dont worry about replacing the radiator if its a 5speed, that really only applies to automatics.
