timming bet job

so i just helped my neighbor out on a TB WP ect job, we got it all done in a day, i kind of just watched and over saw, he did all the work. anyhow i had to leave earily so i didnt get to see him start it up. long story short he forgot about the fact that i had pulled the EFI fuse so when it wouldnt start he tore everything back down and started over... now a week later he has had this issue with his rig hesitating and has a slight miss at idle, and under acceleration it has a different exhaust tone -its more "raspy". im thinking that he got the bet on with one of the cam gears being just a tooth out or so but not sure.
i remember their being some talk about the marks on the belts not matching up perfectly and was wondering if anyone can expand on this or give some advice. i have done a TB once on these motors but it was years ago and i dont remember much about it. anyhow im thinking he is just like one tooth off one way or the other. the truck starts up easily and is not throwing a code but when you get on it, it hesitates and stumbles almost falling on its face. any help will be much appreciated thanks

Yep. Your right. He is a tooth or two off on his timing. My 5zvfe jumped timing once. It was exactly as you say. Falls on its face. Makes a noise from the intake in the high rpm.
He will have the tear it down again.
