There are a few videos out there that can teach you how to do it. If you do do it yourself just make sure you get some good film.

EH007 said:I'm not sure where you get some of your crazy ideas, but of course the factory tint (call it privacy glass if you want, but it's still tinted) provides some relief from the heat of the sun. I don't know how you could think otherwise, because it defies all logic.
eskimochaos said:Actually, your completely wrong on this one EH007. The glass in the back is dyed a dark color. There is NO tint on it. OK fine its not as bright as clear glass but it provides no thermal relief from the sun. Your car with real tint will be cooler than one with privacy glass.
EH007 said:Tint is not just a film that's applied to the glass. Did you ever see tinted lenses on a pair of glasses? They are tinted and it's in the glass, not a film stuck to the glass.
And I'll repeat this once more for you since you can't figure it out for yourself---- any glass that is darker than pure clear glass will block some light (such as the light from the sun), which obviously will also provide some heat rejection as well.
Don't blame me because you think that tint is nothing more than film applied to the glass. Sorry, but factory tint is not a film, but yes, it is in fact tint nonetheless.
HB 4X4 said:Factory "privacy glass" is colored glass. You can say it has a "tint" to it in the same way you can say a picture has a yellow "tint" to it, but it is not the same thing as aftermarket window tint which blocks heat, damaging UV rays, and adds privacy. It however does close to nothing when considering anti-heat properties.
Privacy glass is not tint.
EH007 said:Any glass that is not pure clear glass is tinted glass. It does not matter HOW it is tinted, all that matters is that it is not clear glass. Factory "privacy glass" is tinted glass, just as clear glass is tinted when a window tinting film is applies.
I think some of you guys need to go back and take a science class or something. Any glass that is not clear will in fact block light. And if it blocks light, it will provide heat rejection. This is basic science, not just my opinion.
And by the way, many people think that factory glass (privacy glass or not) does not have anti-UV properties, but it actually does. Toyota actually provides this info in many of their owner's manuals.
