Tint on moonroof

I was reading online about people with moonroofs that exploded. Has this happened to any 5th Gens? I have a 2011 4Runner SR5 and was wondering if tint on the moonroof would be good or bad. Any body tint their moon roofs? What kind of weather is it in? Any issues?

I tried to get mine tinted at the local guy but they wouldn't do it and didn't really give a reason why.

Because it gets to hot being any darker and can damage the (crack or explode), this always what I've been told. But who really knows. I'd think some nice 30% metalic tint would work good.

I'd think it would be the opposite, and it would keep things cooler by reflecting the sun. Interesting.

Tint goes on inside of glass.

Oh sure, but we don't have this issue with rear windows being tinted on other vehicles. My last Mercedes had a very big rear window, and the tint really helped keep the car cooler - guess that makes the glass that much warmer though.

Just curious that its not a problem on rear windows, but is on a sunroof.

I had 5% tint on the sunroof of my old 99 Corolla. It's been on there for 6+ years and I never had any problem with it and wish I had it on my 4R. It's really nice because the sun doesn't beat down on you like the factory tint.
