Mine had tint on it when I bought it but I think it is aftermarket stuff added by the distributor. Have no issues with any glare.
Thanks for the quick responses. I don't know if I'm describing the issue correctly, but in previous cars I've had, When I looked at my rear window with defroster lines and tint(film ... not part of glass) headlights would reflect off the defroster lines portion. This makes it distracting. So you have no issues with that?

Maybe what you are talking about is something that doesn't bother me and I just don't pick up on it. All I know is my wife, who is the primary driver, is very picky about every little thing and she hasn't mentioned anything about it. But then again, she was okay with putting a big "SaltLife" sticker on the rear window and she hasn't complained about that either and it can definitely be seen in the rear view mirror.

Be sure not to mention it to her or she will notice it all of the sudden.
To the OP, I haven't noticed anything like that. You might want to test drive one (with tint obviously) at night and see for yourself.

I plan on tinting 15% over everything, so the back should be good a dark with it over the factory privacy glass and the fronts will not be too bad at night with just the 15%. Illegal yes, in OK the rear is fine, the fronts should not be more than 20%, but our cops worry about crimes not about glass tint. I've had between 5-15% on every car I've owned been pulled over a few times and not once has an officer say anything.

Most of the people don't have real tint film on their T4R, a couple do, but most just have the normal baked privacy glass. To me that stuff doesn't get dark enough, it's been 110 degrees here most the summer and a 30% privacy glass doesn't cut the heat for me. Plus almost all tints block UV I'm not sure about privacy glass, but you can feel a heat difference between the two.

The factory privacy glass does nothing to block UV or even heat.
The glare you might get could be from cheaper tint that use metals in their construction. Those could also interfere with radio/radar/gps signals. The even cheaper tint use dyes that become purple or green with prolonged sun exposure. Both these cheaper materials also require darker tints to achieve the same heat blocking ability, though most tints offer the same high UV blocking ability. The high quality tint you should get are either ceramic or carbon based. I have ceramic and it makes a huge difference in blocking out the heat and no more darker left arms from long drives.

I've NEVER had a problem like that, to me this is what it sounds like is happening on your car.
#1 The tint was put on wrong.
#2 They used a metallic tint which is amplifying #1
I know what your talking about though, the little bars crossing the rear window are holding up the tint and it's not flush, thus creating a gap for the metallic tint to reflect on to the glass and creating a glare. I only use Llumar dyed window tint, mostly 15% charcoal color, I have used 5% too.
Honestly unless your going to take it some where and have it tinted this is not an issue. The 4Runner comes standard with privacy glass which is not flim like I'm talking about. You might just want someone to match it to the front two doors cause most don't come tinted, but that shouldn't be a problem cause there is no obstruction on the glass to cause a glare.

Go for it, just use a good reputable place to do the tint and you'll be just fine. Just use non metallic tint too.
