Tinted tails...W/Pics. Whatcha Think

I just tinted my stock taillights and bumper reflectors today. They came out great. Flawless.. Somehow when they are lit, the light output is still close to 100% This is my cheap alternative to the ugly stock pink ones and expensive altezzas. This mod cost me $18. just removed them, laid them on a papered table, and sprayed. I did several light coats... They look great lit up.

Did you sand them with 1000 grit sandpaper or wetsand, clear coat or anything? Was it easy?
 
No, I've never sanded any set I've done. I just clean them real good with amonia free glass cleaner. The amonia will cause the paint to "fish eye". This stuff is formulated to stick to plastic. I've done about 20 sets of these and never sanded first. Never had any trouble with peeling or flaking.
 
wow they look great!!!! heres mine tinted using the film. yours look about 100 times better!. where did you get this spray???

all you need to do now is replace the license plate frame with a real team like the GIANTS! LOL
 
I'm not doing the 3rd brake light because, the law says when light is applied to the rear of the vehicle, red should reflect back. Thats the only red spot.
As for my liscense plate frame, we're just having a bit of a rough run here.

Nice lights tho! I wouldn't mind doing that myself, even tho I'm not too car savvy when it comes to that sorta thing
 
So I've been researching this spray stuff, and I am really interested. Do you spray the inside of the light or the outside? And does anyone have it on a black Runner? I'm just thinking that I would make it looked smoked or something not COMPLETELY black.
 
It sprays on the outside of the lense. You spary multiple light coats and stop when you think its dark enough. I did 5 coats. Its not completely black like the pics show. In the sun, you can see a slight red reflection coming through. Each coat gets a bit darker. I think one more coat and mine would have been completely black.
