tire air valve q

so here's the story...
I took down the spare yesterday, tried to unscrew the cap and it's stuck. I played with it for a little bit, but the sucker put up a good fight and I lost. I ended up twisting the cap off with the valve. I called a couple of the local dealers only to find out that the valve is $120.00 and the fitting cap that's needed runs around $11.00. Not too mention the labor. Here's my question, if I were to put a generic valve, will it affect the tire pressure sensor? And where can I get a cheaper valve? I really hate the idea of spending close to $200.00 to have this fixed.

I'm not sure if I read this right, but you have to replace the TPMS sensor?

If you're interested, I have 4 from a set of sport edition wheels. I could sell you one. I don't have TPMS and they have been just sitting in my tool box since I bought the SE wheels in august.

The sensor and the valve stem are all one piece. I bought it from the dealer cause they were cheapest at $106 and took it to a tire shop and they put it in for six bucks. Then they have to activate the sensor and load all five sensors into the computer. I still haven't had them do this yet cause I really don't want to pay for it. I should have just had a regular valve stem put in. I need to do the bypass so I can shut the light off. I have two other tires that the caps are stuck on right now. I think I'm gonna take my dremel out and cut em off- hopefully without screwing the stems up.

I can't believe the TPMS is so expensive. I can't see the point. I check my pressure once or twice per week. Costs me nothing but the enjoyment of taking care of my car.
