Tire blow out

I had my front passenger side tire (BFG A/T) blow out on my 5th gen today.

They had approx. 24k miles on them but have a lot of tread left... around 6.5/16"

My questions is if I should just get one new tire or two (4 seems a little overkill here)

I have heard mixed opinions about only replaceing one... what are your thoughts?

I've been there! Last time that happened I bought two and took the next, most worn tire and made it my spare. Oddly enough, I had another blowout a couple of months later (one of the older tires) and was able to replace it with the spare I kept. I then remounted the original spare back on the spare rim.

ignorant follow-up question

I've been there! Last time that happened I bought two and took the next, most worn tire and made it my spare.

If you replace two tires, would you mount them on the same side front and back and let the rear/front diffs make up any difference side to side?

I ended up just replacing one tire... The others had such marginal amount of wear that it seemed crazy to replace more than one. (That and I had the warranty on the tire)

Gotta give a shout out to Discount Tire. I love them... $35 out the door for a brand new bfg a/t, 4 tires balanced and rotated. :guitar3:

What caused a blowout at 24k miles??? Also, are yours e-rated?

They are C-Rated... I should have been more clear, wasnt really a blowout as much as it was someone merging into me so I had to hop a curb to get out of the way.
