Tire cleaning

I have Griot's Vinyl and Rubber dressing. Is this good enough to CLEAN my tires, or do I need to get an actual cleaner and then throw on the Griot's for protection? Was thinking about using Meguiar's Endurance or 303 for my tires and then top it of with da' Griot's.

Just got my PC and Griot's waxing and claying products. Gonna work on my vehicle this weekend. I'll post pics later.

I do not use any of the tire goo stuff anymore. It splaters all over the paint in tiny tarlike spots, and is a bitc# to remove. Takes forever to wash the car. I use foam cleaner, then leave tires undressed. Meguires stuff is good, but even the thinest layer splaters around at highway speeds.

The Griot's dressing is awesome. I guess I wasn't using it correctly before. Now Im in love with it.

Tires

Clean your tires with AJAX or Westleys' Tire Brite. Both get all the road junk off your tires and down to the rubber, so you can put a good sealant on them to protect the rubber. Vinylex or the Griot's stuff is the best I've found thus far.

I bought an All Purpose Cleaner from a local detail shop. The product is made by Pro Car Beauty. This stuff works great. Got all the crap outta my tires and wheel wells. Now I'm using it on my floor mats.

Yo, Wabbit, I heard that they changed the formula on the Wesleys and that it is kinda bad for the tires now. Your thoughts, please.

Most of the time my tires don't even need cleaning, just the rims, so I don't use the Westley's or AJAX but maybe once every 3-4 cleanings when the tires get really dirty, after wheeling. As long as you don't use it weekly, as your tires probably don't need it, just wash them off with the stuff you use on your paint and then reapply the Griot's or the Vinylex. I don't even add anything on my tires as of late cause it is kinda silly to have big black glossy tires on a rock crawler!

Griots Dressing is nice

I wasn't impressed with the best of Show wax that came with my kit. Nor was I impressed with the clay bar holder for the random orbital, it blows.

BUT the rubber and vinyl dressing is something else. I washed the tires first with Eagle One to remove any heavy grime. Then scrubbed with a tire brush and dishwashing liquid to really clean the side wall.

The Griot's dressing was easy after that. Wipe on and rub in really good. A little went a long way on each tire. No glossy look, just a little on the bright side, but much better looking than other spray on tire dressings. And it is nice for the door seals too. After 2 months, they still look great. Same with the tires. Just hose them off.

I even did my bicycle tire sidewalss when I recently replaced them. Clay, mud, and dirt hose right off. They used to stain brown and stay that way. Hope it lasts most of the riding season.

And I'm going back to Klasse All-in-One and Glaze. It took almost ten years to use up and I purchased the Griots kit. But the Griots was WAY to hard to remove, even with the random orbital, and claying the car first.
