Tire Deals

FWIW: I've started using Walmart.com for tires. They buy through a couple of the major national distributors, their prices are usually the same or slightly less than Tire Rack and you don't pay freight if you ship the tires the a Walmart store. Saved over $100 on a set of Michelins for my GTI, a similar amount for a set of Continental for my Audi. They mounted and balanced the GTI tires and didn't screw up the wheels

I've been doing some shopping as well. Walmart has a better price on the ST Maxx than Discount Tire ($72 cheaper for all 4) I think DT will price match if you find a better price...I'm not sure.

I don't and never will shop at Walmart (no offense, just my opinion)...that being said, if I can save $72, I would use Walmart's price as a bargaining chip to do my business with DT.

I used Sears

last time b/c they had the best pricing for the hankook atms. Next time ill have to take a look at walmart

Toyotas buy 3 tires and get the 4th free is starting back up next month I believe

Yes it is..starts April 1st at my dealer. Just in time as I just had my first flat today. Spare works great for now on the steelie. FYI I'm having them send over some quotes on various tires and I mentioned Cooper to get a quote and she said in addtion to the promo if you get Cooper you receive a $100 prepaid Visa gift card.

Awesome! I just called my dealer, the service dept. was closed, but I'll check tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up! :guitar2:

Sent a rebate request into Cooper several years ago - all instructions followed and receipts etc. - never heard a word from them.

I spoke with my local dealer today. Seems they are pretty limited to their tire selection. They can only order what Toyota offers. No Coopers and only BFG's available were the Long Trails. Also, size wise, 265/70/17 was the only size I could order. They don't venture too far off of stock. I don't know how everyone else's dealers work, but apparently my deal is a no deal :cry2:

That is no good..try another dealer? My dealer specifically told me they could order any tire..didn't matter what the make was. They would go as large as 285's. Guess its just dependent on the dealer.

Marketing lol...

No such thing as free... and who the hell buys 3 times at a time.

Often times when doing the math and shopping around, its just a regular deal

Discount tire will price match literally anybody. Shop around all you want, find the best price and bring it into DT. They will match, and usually beat by a few percent. At least the one by me.

you would think, but the quote I received for 3 different tires ( Ko2s, TG's, AT3s) all came out around $250-300 cheaper mounted & balanced than local tires companies around town. I called around figuring someone would at least price match or come close, but no dice. Toyota it is!

Thanks, yes. I just called another local dealer. They could get whatever I want, however.........(see below)

I received my "buy 3 get 1 free" quote from another dealer. Installed prices are as follows for 275/70/17:

Toyota
Cooper AT3 $862
Cooper ST Maxx $978
BFG KO2 $1250

So much for buy 3 get 1 free.

Discount Tire

Cooper AT3 $856
Cooper ST Maxx $1134
BFG KO2 $940

Looks like the ST Maxx's might be a decent deal, but I can get DT to match or beat for that. Otherwise, where the hell's the "free" tire.

Interesting.. they emailed me the quote breakdowns and the tire price was correct, but they wanted to slip in a $99 alignment ( nope ) etc. They said I wouldn't need one since the truck is basically brand new. Maybe they slipped in some extra stuff? Mounting balancing costs probably more too?

I wish we had a local Discount Tire near here, but no joy. For the Terra Grapplers G2's that I want (stock size) it comes out to $647 out the door.

Did my tire shopping today andlocal Big O beat the Toyota Dealer penny sale ( 50 mile drive) price On a set of Michelin AT2s by $20 mounted with alignment and taxes $1008.40.

Just pulled the trigger today on stock size K02s at the Toyota tire sale event. $867 out the door mounted and balanced. Couldn't pass up the deal on K02s. Everywhere else was quoting around 1K or more.

Good price on the tires. Directly from a Toyota dealer too?

Yes it was. They wanted to charge an alignment as part of the promotion, but I discussed it with the service manage because the truck is practically new and has low miles. He waived the fee before I ordered($80) which made the tires a great deal.
