Tire disappointment today

So i ordered BFG MT km2 in 255/80r17 for my runner. Well i went in to discount tire because they price matched the price online plus shipping which was 195 a tire. so they mounted one tire to the wheel and installed it on my runner. As im walking out to the bay where my truck is, they came in and told my wife that the did not fit and that they rubbed the upper A arm. She was like :wtf::rant: and i saw it as soon as i go to the bay. So then i talked to the guy that i bought the tires with and asked him what are our choices so after some talking i remembered i saw a set of wheels for a taco out front for 50 bucks each but they were 16'' so i asked what if i went to 255/85/r16 and bought the wheels would they match the price of the place we originally got the tire price from he said Yes which was 188 shipped for a each tire. i thought he would say no due to the fact that the 255/80r17 where shipped from a warehouse in Ohio and special ordered since no one in the western US had any. So tomorrow i Will have my much awaited for 33s on the runner its like Xmas in June. I will tell you this that if any of you have a Discount Tire or America's tire they will set you up and take care of you. so tomorrow i will be one happy camper and will have pics to post up of my build so far :reddance:

Good customer service! I guess your only other option would have been wheel spacers. When my 4runner is on a lift the tires hit my Upper A arms, but when the weight of the vehicle is on the tires there is clearance (very little) so I'm either going with spacers or a new set of wheels. Can't wait to see pics of your rig!

Cool, you'll love the 255s. I like discount tire too, they've always been good to me. What I don't get is why the 255/80/17s rubbed, but not the 255/85/16s?? They're the same width. Did you try to mount the 1st set on wheels with like 5.5" backspacing or something?

well i am running a 4th gen wheels they came on it when i bought it and really wasnt a fan of them when i bought it but i go the truck for a great deal so it was one of those deals here is a link(not mine but this is what they look like) of the wheels that are on it until tomorrow and by the what the wheels that i got a Discount are a aftermarket 16x8

I've been going to Discount for almost 20 years (hard to believe it's been 20 years) and have never had a problem with their service and I even got my Duratracs talked down to the price of the Nitto TGs which were almost $15 cheaper per tire (than the GYs) on their on-line site. I got my Duratracs for $157/tire which is now up to $180/tire. Their instore price on the GY C load rated is up to $196 and I saved over $140 buying them back in October vs current out the door price.
