How do I determine how accurate a tire pressure gauge is? I have one that says my tires are 27psi and another that says 33psi....

What's a good way to determine who is right?

Why? Just because they are digital?

This applies to either the mechanical or electrical style. How do you verify its accuracy?

Not sure but you might have a bad one? Heck, they're only a few bucks unless you got some nice one.

Personally I wouldn't know how you would test for accuracy.

seriously it depends what kind of gauge it is. digital does not mean its accurate. actually most times digital stuff isn't as accurate as mechanical. its just easier to read. if you really want to check which is right, go to america tire co or something and just ask if they can check your tire pressure and check it with your gauge as well and see how it is. they usually have stuff that will be close enough. or you could always go out and buy a new one (not a $2 one but mroe like a $15 one)

I got both Digital and Regular gauges. Both are equaly accurate, but I prefer non-digital one. I can see small increments between numbers i.e. 32.3 psi or 32.7, where digital would just read 32.5 on both. Digital only reads in 0.5 psi increments.

Buy a good digital gauge (less moving parts) and be consistant. Check you tires cold, in the morning and keep doing it the same way. It is not so important that they are really 34.2 when you set them at 35. It is important that they all read 35 on your gauge on every tire. If he gauge is much less than 15 bucks pass. Oh and if you are not doing a 5 tire rotation, you might want to drop the spare and check it, too (the valve in on the top when the spare is in place). If you really want to be sure, store your spare with 2 or 3 extra psi so compensate for forgetting to check it in the future. TMI, maybe....

A man with a watch always knows what time it is; a man with two watches never knows...

I'd buy a third gage. Since it will be newer, it will most likely be more accurate. Then, throw away the old gage that's reading farthest from the other two. Majority Rules!
