tire kingdom situation

so i have been doing the oil changes myself since i got my 4runner but decided to take it into tire kingdom cuz they were having a sale and i needed my tires rotated.
they do a "22" point inspection and when they were done said that my front left strut was starting to leak....i asked the mechanic wat it meant but he kept giving me mechanic terms so i had no idea wat he was talking about.
could someone help a brotha out and tell me wat i should be worried about if anything...or wat i should do to fix it.

also my wife took the 4runner to tampa for a rascal flatts concert...literally 4 hours after tire kingdom....and said that when she applies the brakes the truck starts shaking. she is gonna take it into a tire kingdom up in tampa to see wats wrong with it...but i was thinkin with all the 4runner smarties on here someone could maybe tell me wat they thought was happening here too

mireland, I had a vibrating issue when braking as well before. At the time, I had my old set of tires that I never balanced. After I got my new set a couple of weeks ago, the vibration disappeared. Maybe the issue is that your tires are unbalanced.

You should probably fix a leaking shock yes. And you need to do it in pairs such as both fronts or both backs at the same time. However, if you have the xreas system although i think it was mostly for the sport models but not sure. Then it's really expensive to replace and 99% of people pull it out and put in regular shocks. As for the vibration when braking it's probably warped brake rotors. Which just kinda happen over time. So getting your rotors "turned" is where they grind them perfectly flat again but most people just buy new rotors. But, that is strange that it started 4 hours after the visit usually it happens (on mine) if I'm driving in lots of city traffic and the brakes get hot they start to vibrate but cold they don't. I know i need new rotors...just lazy and procrastinating these ones. Hope that kinda helps some.

Another possible factor: As you wear brake pads and rotors, they will create unique grooves... just normal wear. If you replace pads, but keep the stock rotors and do not turn them; then there will be a period of time before the rotors and the pads wear to each other.

A.k.a: you get a little rumble or vibration. A good way to tell the difference between a serious warped rotor or simple new pads wearing to the rotor is the degree of the vibration or rumble.

If, when you put on the breaks, you get a pretty serious RUUURUURUUURUUR (sorry, I have no idea to spell out the sound) and you feel a serious shaking vibration, you have a seriously warped rotor. I doubt something like that JUST happens after new brakes...

If it is is slight little warble... and it doesn't really impact driving; I would say give it a week of normal driving. If you start to notice it being less and less noticeable, it is because the pad is literally adjusting to your rotors.

Also. If you do find it is bad rotors; change the rotors.

If you do have warped rotors check you don't have a stuck caliper as well - its very common on the fronts in particular and it will warp your new rotors if not fixed - do you have any pulling to one side when braking - that's a giveaway sign of it.

I would find a diffferent mechanic. But then I dont trustmost of them, which is a lesson I was taught when I was 16. I do most of my own work since then or research the heck out of a place before I use it.
The name of that place bothers me and I dont know anything about it.
