Tire MPG Calculation

I just wanted to double check this with somebody to see if my math is correct. Based on my math, switching from 31" to 33" tires would only cost me an additional $100 a year for gas, based on 10,000 miles of driving. Does this sound about right? I used to get 340 miles on 31" tires and now get about 300 miles on 285/55/16s. I was thinking about switching back to 31" to save on gas but if all I'm saving is $100 to maybe $175 a year it doesn't seem like it would be worth it when you compare the pros of the 33" tires.

did you factor in the larger diameter tire size when you took your miles readings? If not, 300 indicated miles w/ 33's is actually 320miles traveled.
