265/75-16 with little to no rubbing when wheeling.

285/75-16 some fit stock wheels and have a minimal space at the UCA, with more rubbing when wheeling. Some pounding is usually required.

Bigger sizes fit with wider wheels and less backspacing. They will rub more also requiring more pounding and trimming.

Body lifts help with reducing rubbing of tires bigger that the 265/75-16.

My Yokohama AT/S 265/75-16 rub at full stuff. In the front on the top of the inner fender and back of the wheel well. (the Yokos run big) In back I have ~1/2" before the tire touches the inner fender, no rubbing.

With a 3" lift, a 33" (quote unquote) tire is going to look the best. I prefer 285/75R16's. Some people prefer 255/85/R16's. The 255's are more like pizza cutters, tall and skinny. The 285's look nice and fat from the front and rear.

265/75R16's are another option, however they look kind of small when you have 3" of lift.

I don't think he's going to be wheeling it that much....but I could be wrong. Just my initial impression. But then again, you'd assume I DID wheel mine after looking at my sig....and I don't.

I'm running the 285's and have some rubbing in the rear when they are heavily articulated....the front....I trimmed the lower bumper valance to clear them even for on road driving. I'm also running 16X8 wheels with approx. 4.5" backspacing.....

Here's a profile shot of my rig running a OME 890 coil 3" lift in the rear, and 3" Toytec Spacer in the front:

Here's a shot of the trimming I did to clear the tires:

Hope this is helpful.....:driving:

The 255/85 should fit the stock wheels and a narrower tire will tend to rub less when turning.

hey guys just to clear stuff up i plan on off roading a little after hockey season and i do love the look of wide tires... i also might use some spacers to help the rubbing while im turning.

I did the same lift on my truck and have been debating on what tires I should fill all that empty wheel well space with as well.

Im looking for an aggressive looking tire that will function well in the snow and take up all that extra space. If most of my driving is on road/highway with some weekend trips off road will the 285/75/16 rub during normal road driving condition? General consensus?

well because of the cost im going with kumho's but im not sure what model to go with...what looks and performs better at size 285/75/16, the Road Venture MT or Road Venture AT?????:ybrick:

The wider the tire or with the addition of spacers the larger the arc of the outer edge. This is what rubs most of the time. I had very little rubbing but much more since I added the Spidertrax 1.25" spacers.

Will 285s fit without spacers? It has been done. It depends on the tire. Some brands and models run small and/or the shape of the tire. Will a 285 rub? Most probably.

With bigger tires you will loose engine power and braking power. Can you live without re-gearing and a brake upgrade? Lots have and lots have gotten tired of the lack of power or braking and have upgraded.

I'd really be careful with those Kumhos. They seem to be hit or miss. The 285's were decent on my Xterra, but the 265/75's have been absolute trash on my 4Runner. Two of them have popped and none of them want to balance correctly. Spend the extra few bucks and step up to a General Grabber AT2.
