Tire Pressure Mgmt System reset

I've search the forums on this topic and have a relatively good understanding of what I need to do. Just wanted to ask for recommendations.

I swapped out my 17" SE wheels for a set of 18" limited wheels and now the TPMS is blinking.

Should I remove the TPMS sensors from the 17" wheels and place them on the 18" wheels? OR should I reprogram the 18" wheels?

You'd have to dismount the tires to swap the sensors. As long as you know the ID's of the transmitters on the 18" wheels, it would be easier to have them programmed into the computer.

If you don't know the ID's, then you have to dismount the tires anyway. Of course, the ID is printed on the sensor.

No I guess they're just on the sensor themselves INSIDE the tire. But even if I had the numbers, I'd still have to go into to a dealer to get it reprogrammed (read $$$$$$$$$). I kind of doubt "normal" shops have the Toyota specific computer programmers (i could be wrong).

So I think the best thing to do is to remove them from my old set of wheels even though the batteries are now almost 5 years old and will need replacing probably in 5 years. I thought I was being all slick and thrifty by swapping all the tires out myself too.

Oh well, $15/wheel times 5 = $75 isn't that bad I guess.

Swap over the sensors...

or

...reprogram the new sensors.

$15/wheel is not bad at all.

I wanna see pictures!! :awais:
