Run it by a tire shop and have them check the voltage in each sensor. That's if the device they use is a decent one. I use the Tech Stream. It will tell you PSI, tire temps, voltage, etc. Also to reprogram them.

My 06 4Runner TPMS light is on solidly although all 5 tires are at 32psi.

I went to Firestone and they scanned the sensors and all are transmitting. Any ideas?

yeah,

The sensors have to be registered with the system. If you don't have techstream or another device to actually get the sensors to register with the TPMS computer the light will never go off.

Have had the same problem going on 3 years now, light is constantly on, although everything is normal. I was told by one mechanic the computer monitoring system was bad and needed to be replaced to the tune of $745.00. I told him to go fly a kite.

the bypass would seem like a good idea since it seems such a hassle to figure out which tire has a bad sensor.

We have an 07 Camry hybrid & 06 4Runner. Both have the TPMS light on solidly, both have not had any tires touched, both have 32lbs in all 5 tires.

It is annoying having that silly light on.

Is it solid all the time or does it flash for a short while before going solid. Additionally pump the tires up to 35~36psi and see if the lights go out, your gauge may be inaccurate and below about 29~30-ish is the cut off for most of the TPMS set-ups.

When I turn the car(s) on it will flash a few times, then go solid. I have several good gauges all say the same and have gone as far as 40lbs on all 5 tires.

Both are about to get 4 new tires so I will have the shop check but I am reasonably certain it is not a sensor because from what I have read bad sensors flash.

Mine is always out, with the mod, and all are at 35 psi.

Same problem here. Steady light, all tire pressures normal, including the spare. Haven't had the sensors checked, though.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but I haven't postwhored it up enough to make a new thread.

So how would one disable the system? I recently aquired my vehicle and was under the impression I had the system...until I checked a low looking tire and found it at just over 20psi. After filling and checking I found a second tire in the low 20s. I did a light check by turning the ignition to on (not start) and no tpms idiot light was present where I could see the cutout in the dash panel.

Two questions: I read all models have tpms. Is that true even for an 07 in SR5? If it does have it does it run by fuse or relay?

Thanks for the link. I read through that amd it seems pretty straightforward. We'll see if it's been done or not. I'd be mad if the dealer didn't catch it or if the system is shot and wants me to pay to fix it.

Yes yours should definitely have it. My 05 sr5 had it and my current 07 limited does too. I don't think dealers check these out that closely unless it's certified. When I bought my 05 both cv boots were torn and flinging grease. They didn't want to fix it and I raised hell saying you supposedly did a full inspection, how did you not notice this? So yeah, they wouldn't notice the lack of tpms light...or care. I deleted mine and just check the tires monthly especially in the winter.

I can understand your view on the system. My wife's primary driver has it and its annoying in the winter. But it did alert us to a full on tire failure on the highway once so I'm partially inclined to have it working. Thankfully IL has a 15day "if it breaks or is broken fix it" policy on any used cars leaving a dealer lot. Unthankfully we're in the middle of a service strike in the immediate area around us.

First experienced THAT DAMN SPARE with my daughter's RAV4.
Drove me nuts for WEEKS before I figured it out!

Once I check and fill the four tires on the road...
I purposely let the spare tire fester with the sensor light on...
just to make me feel better.
