Yesterday, my son and I went on some errands in my 2005 SR5 and I noticed a light I never noticed before was glowing in my instrument panel. Turns out that it was the "tire pressure" light. I checked all four tires.....no problem.
I figured I ought to take a trip to the local stealership to find out what it could be. I assumed it was a bad sensor or something. They were open Saturday, so I stopped in. Surprisingly, they fixed it at no charge and it only took about twenty minutes. Turns out that my spare was a few pounds low. Jeez!
I never thought that they would have a sensor for the spare, but I guess it does make sense because you'd be sucking wind if you had a flat tire and your spare was no good. Anyway, I have owned and driven cars for almost 25 years now and have never had a flat or deflated spare........especially on a vehicle that is not even a year old yet.
Learn a lesson at my expense, folks.......check the inflation in your spare tire! On a positive note, I like the idea of having a full-size spare instead of one of those little donut thingies that they put in most cars these days.
