tire pressure

Hi all. I've done a quick search on this but thought I'd ask specifically about brand. I just had a set of Goodyear Fortera triple tred's installed, 265/70R16 on stock rims, and am wondering if anyone else has them and what pressure you're using. They replaced LTX M/S's which I set at 29psi (spec) and had a nice ride. The tire dealer recommended 35psi for my new ones, but the ride is quite a bit harder. Any comments are welcome!

32-35psi i run mine at about 35 or so

I run anywhere from 32-35 psi in all my tires. my truck's got dueler A/T's on it, max pressure 44 but no one in the right mind would run them that high. 32-35 allows for fluxuation in both directions without having to check tire pressure every week. hope this helps..

my tires are hard as hell (trxus m/t's) so i run at 25.

if i had street tires though (well, ok, when i used to) i would run them at 32 psi.

Low tire pressure can cause handling issues not to mention more heat created.

as well as decreased gas mileage if you dont keep your tires inflated enough...

Owners manual says 32. My geolander+IIs are wearing down the middle like they are over inflated at 32. Remember 4runners are very light compared to a lot of other vehicles in their range. Owners manual>tire sidewall.

35 psi sounds too high. Try in the 30-32 range and see what works best for you.

Thanks for all the responses. I don't want to wear the middle out of these tires as they're pricy! The Michelins I had were at 29, seemed a bit low but they were wider than the GY's (same size tire but "visably" wider tread). May have had something to do with it. The wear was perfectly even across the tread. I'll try 32 and see how it goes.

FWIW, I've had them through snow, ice, slush, bare pavement, and they are all they're cracked up to be! My alternative was to buy a new set of LTX's for 3 seasons and Latitude X-ice for the winter. I personally found the LTX's excellent but a tad unpredictable on hard packed snow and ice. I have x-ice on our Camry and they're outstanding...never experienced a better winter tire.

I run 34-35psi in my D load rated Nittos since 32 was causing too much wear on the sides and just a couple more psi seems to have fixed the issue.

the ltx's ur actually sposed to run 35 in to keep them inflatted right and there about the smoothest tires i can find for my truck
