Tire Question for 99 2WD

Well my 95 4runner just blew engine a few weeks ago...So I just bought my moms 99. My old one had 31x10.5x15s BFG A/T's and I was told that these would be to big for the 99. I hate to buy new tires cuz my BFG's only have 20k miles on them..Whats the cheapest way around this issue?? I don't know much about lifts and what not..I looked on ebay at some 2.5" leveling kits for $100 and change, don't know how much to get it installed...So what would be the least (cheapest) amount of lift I could get away with for the 31x10.5's?? Other options???

What size rims does the 99 have? If they are 16s like most people have then that answers your question right away. If the rims are 15s then the tires will fit easily with no lift.

Like said above, they will fit fine IF the rims clear the brake calipers. I'm guessing that since the 99 is 2WD, it came stock with 15's, which means your tires would fit no problem. 32's fit on stock height, too.

But why not just throw one on there since you have them both in your driveway???

They are 15's...i didnt think they would fit because the mechanic at the shop where my blown up runner is told me they would not...So you guys are tellin me he is mistaken and the 31x10.5 will fit on this stock 4runner???

This is my old 98 4Runner with 32's:

No rub, except slight rubbage at full lock and compression. 31's are no problem. If you would have gotten 16's from the factory, they would've come with 31's anyway.
