Tire question

My 2003 4Runner has P265-65R-17
tires. The original spare is that size a well so it must have been originally equipped with that size, although the door jamb sticker shows 16" rims.

I saw some tires at Costco that are
P265-70R-17. Is it ok to use these or is it better to stick with the size that came with it. I generally like to leave it stock and don't offroad, except for logging roads once a year. So on the pavement 99%.

Thanks

the new size will be smaller than the stockers,u will loose an inch, depending on tire brand, from 30.6 down to 29.5 imo, too small

Oh no sorry! I messed up. I reviewed a photo of the Costco Pirelli ones and they are 265-70R-17. Thanks.

yea, but which ones, theres at least 5 scorpion? im guessing at or atr ? Pirelli tires for car & light truck its funny, there r some brands/models that a majority hate, (think stock dunlops) but u could question 10 people on the same tire & 5 will say its great the other 5 say it sucks,so to me, it depends alot on how & where u drive.

I know! That's true. I will go back and check what model. So if I go to a 70 aspect ratio the vehicle will be about an inch higher? I find it a bit high right now to get into so I may stick with 65. No offroad for me. Its all about comfort but I love the 4runner anyway. high clearance, easy oil changes, style, etc.
Thanks again.

Half an inch higher. The speedo will under report by about 3% and the odo by about 5%. The spare will be fine for use as a spare for some tens of miles but then needs to be put back in the spare compartment.

70s r an inch taller when put side by side but because the centers dont line up, it really only gives a 1/2 ride height increase, of course that depends on the brand since not all brands that size measure the same. if u want to stay with the scorpion, the atr which is geared more for the street might be a better choice for u then.
