tire recommendation--never off road

Hello-
I want to dump the Dunlops on my 2001.
I doubt if I will ever take the truck off road but I do need a tire that is good in the snow.
Other than that I am doing mostly city driving.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

In your situation I'd look at Michelin's. You do get what you pay for. I've owned a bunch of them on other vehicles.

Yes, Michelin Cross Terrain or LTX M/S. Both are fantastic street tires.

I agree both tires are excellent. Cross Terrians are meant to "provide exceptional on-road handling, an amazingly quiet ride and comfort similar to that of a luxury car, while still offering aggressive truck-like styling and excellent traction in both winter and wet weather".

I asked this group basically the same question and I ended up getting the Cross Terrians. I now have about 30,000 miles and unlike my last set, I have not noticed any wear. They still look new. They do handle great and compared to my last set of tires, they are amazingly quiet.

A friend has LTX M/S on his Pathfinder and he has over 70,000 miles on them. Here is a link to my thread about tires:

Revos are better in the snow and they're cheaper.

1. Michelin Cross Terrain $146

2. Michelin LTX M/S $136

3. Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo $129

It seemed that from the reviews on Tirerack.com that both Michelins felt great to drive and lasted forever but were not too impressive with snow and ice traction.

And as far as the Revo's, they handled the snow and ice with no problems but were not as comfortable and quiet.

This might take some time to decide...

My Michelin Cross Terrains handle snow and ice quite well.

I've had the LTX M/S, the Revo's that I now run are not that loud. I am surprised at how quiet the tire is at speed. I say the noise is about equal.
