Tire removal tools

I own a 2004 Sport Edition 4-Runner. I just purchased it (used) and the tire removal tools were missing. I have the jack but not the tool pouch.

I found someone selling a tool set for a 2007 model and it says the tools are the same. It's also compatible with numerous other models including some Lexus. He is probably correct since little has changed. I just don't want to order the tools and find out later that 1 or 2 pieces are different.

Does anyone know if the 2004 and 2007 tool set are identical?

You should be ok, I have a set made for a Chevy. I would check the salvage yards, you could find a used one for a fraction of the price. If they are charging more than 60 bucks, it's too much.

I called a half dozen salvage yards and no one was able to help. If anything, a few said these parts were hard to come by.

The on-line price comes to about $80 and that includes the shipping. Probably worth it just to get it off my incredibly long to-do list.

I'm just reluctant to order the 2007 parts if they won't work on my 2004.

Man. Take it from me, Toyota hasn't changed those tools in 20 years. I somehow managed to keep the tire kit from my 1990 4runner and it is the same pouch and tools as my 2005 4runner came with.

:)

To be honest I took it out of my car, along with the spare tire. I have AAA, so I am not worried about it, I'll just have them tow the vehicle to my house. I rarely go further than 50 miles from the house.
