Revo Tire Review

I have the Revo's on my '98 Runner with 32,000 miles on them. So far, they have been excellent and I should be able to get the 50,000 miles out of them. One tire has been plugged and has never been a problem. Checked on some Revo's (last set of the old style Revo's) yesterday at our Base BX and I got an out the door price of $608 + $40 road hazard, tire rotation is free for the life of the tires down to 3/32nd's. Didn't get a price on the Revo's II's. My Revo's have been rotated and balanced every 6 months. I do no off road driving, strictly paved highway. May go to a more highway use tire for my next set instead of the Revo. Just had my 90,000 mile belt change and water pump replacement done so I have a lot of life left in this 4Runner (limited edtion 4WD Automatic). I am on my second set of tires since new.

You sure dug this thread back up. I now have just over 40,000 on my REVO's and have never had a problem with them. I think we just went over the 70,000 mile mark on the 2002 4Runner and I see no reason why we won't get another 20,000 miles out of the tires.

General Grabber AT2's
Snow Great! it has more sipes then the BFG's and the snow doesn't stick in there as much. A hardly ever needed my 4 wheel (while going slow) no slippage
Ice: Good. ice is slippery no matter what tire you have, i say these are great on the ice! i haven't been stuck in a parking spot yet!
Rain: Amazing! no slipping at all!
Dirt: Great, they grip like a AT tire
Mud: Good, you get some slippage but it is mud and mud is slick
Noise: pretty dang quiet for a beefy AT tire.
Warranty/Price a paid about $110 a tire at Discount, with the 50k warranty and 4 free tire replacements.
Overall. i love this tire i have the stock size 265 16 ??? i cant remember. This tire is available for pretty much any size. it looks mean and as a bonus for those who want snow tires too... these come with little holes on the edges in the tread to insert some studs if you'd like. pretty fricken sweet id say! here is what they look like.

I have a 1996 Toyota 4runner SR5 Automatic 2wd

I have stock rims and ive been trying to look for some tires and i wanted to know what is the max size i can hit on a stock rim on stock suspension. I will lift later on but im seeing a lot of people with the same rims but they use 16 but mine is 15. Any help?

I need to get new tires for my 2002 4Runner Sport 4x4. I'm moving to Florida soon so need to get tires that will grip in the rain. I currently have Goodyear Wrangler Armortrac 265/70R16. I feel like they did not grip the road when it is wet. What tires do you guys recommend for Florida weather - basically hard rain lol

Old thread but I think it would be useful to a lot of people if it was brought back to life. Tires can be one of the bigger investments for 20 year old vehicles - a large percentage of the vehicle's value, actually.

After reading several threads about increasing the size of my stock tires to 265/75R16, I landed on the BFG KO2s that seemed to be recommended by several people. The ratings were really good around the interwebs, and they seem to be liked by members here. They were a little on the pricey size but I don't put a lot of miles on & expect them to last me at least 8 years probably 10.

They've been described to me as fairly quiet and good handling for an aggressive looking tire. I don't go off road a lot but definitely lots of deep snow ice and mud in the winter and a lot of gravel roads. I also prefer blackwall and not white lettering.

So I'll follow up with a report by editing this post over time. If anyone else has had good (or bad) experiences with them, chime in!

i like the goodyear all terrain adventure kevlar tires that are on the new taco trd sport people take em off at the dealership and you can get em for cheap in a 265 70 16 they are super expensive brand new from any tire store. They are smooth as butter on road and off road great on any terrain tough as nails you can beat the shit out of em no complaints except that i dont like em on snow and ice i always have dedicated winters but if you dont get snow and ice they'll rock all year long and performance is still good even as they wear. very quiet on road and they look pretty good too having a mildy aggresive tread not like duratracs but not like a boring road tire either. PEACE!

2WD need snow tire help

Hi all, thanks for the tire reviews. I have read these and many other posts. I'd love some help on a few things specifically that are often not identified in a lot of the posts.

My daughter has a 2WD 4Runner (1998 Limited, 6cyl). She is in Michigan and is due for new tires. The truck and the girl came from California, so we have limited snow / ice experience.

She is looking for tire recommendations for the stock 265/70R16. Grip in snow is preferred over things like quietness, or low price. She lives in a shared living arrangement, so she cannot have dedicated winter tires.

I have read many threads that say "get a 4WD", so that advice is not needed, thank you! I understand RWD is not the best option.

If she stays in a wintry climate, she will trade for a 4WD in future. Meantime she will avoid icy days when possible, drive slowly and take the learned opinions of this group to get the best tires for her current reality. Thank you!

I have Michelin defenders (on a 2wd) and LTX AT2s (on a 4wd), both do great on ice/snow and yeah keep it under 30 while taking a shovel/tire and a recovery mat perhaps. Luck.

Great, thank you jgue467. Beautiful looking 4Runner. Thank you, what I see from Michelin now are Defender LTX M/S. No mention of AT2, but the LT M/S are well rated on Tire Rack and Discount Tire. As they should be at $250 per, but I'd rather have the peace of mind. Other comments welcome! Thanks, Patrick

General grabber AT/X

Hey there, saw this thread, figured I'd give my input

Right now I am running some 265/75R16 General Grabber AT/X's on my 1998. I got them on in April of 2023. My 4Runner is my DD / only vehicle so I drive it just about everyday, whether going to work, off-roading, or whatever else. So far I love them. Before I had some crappy off brand super bald A/T's on and they were super loud. The grabbers are actually really quiet and they only make a little bit of noise / hum. My truck is just a 2WD so I don't do any "real" wheeling. But I've done my fair share of stuff on them so far. The grip is amazing with them. On road when it's wet I feel like they actually get grippier than when it's dry and I try to break the tires loose haha. Dry dirt is great of course great traction. The other day I went to my local spot and we were hiking and it rained a lot a couple days before and the whole thing was a mud pit basically. Tires did great, had full control the whole time, no slipping or anything when I didn't want to. When I got the tires brand new my jaw dropped when I saw the tread depth. They are super deep! awesome!

Overall I rate the tires a 10. Might be a little biased, but I have nothing bad at all to say about them so far. I think they are great choice if your looking for a good tire, they are not bad on the price either.

I'm not a huge fan of the Michelin LTX AT2, because it doesn't have full depth sipes. What this means is its wet performance will drop off when it gets to around half life. I personally find this unacceptable on a tire that costs as much as it does.

Don't get it confused with the Michelin (defender) LTX M/S, which doesn't have this sort of cost cutting. It is a better tire in its category.

I have Goodyear Adventure Kevlar, and I've been happy with it in the snow over 2 winters. The tire was discontinued and replaced with the Wrangler Territory AT that has nearly the same tread design as my Adventure. For some stupid reason Goodyear sells two different tires with the exact same name.

When I first bought my 4Runner these came on very very new, it looked like he had just drove it to meet me after the tire shop.

PROS: Never had a problem doing anything I would ask them to do traction wise (Within reason). Sand? No problem. Snow? Only way I could get stuck is shoving one of the ends in a ditch. Even after stopping in foot and a half of snow, she keeps on movin. Mud? Hakuna Matata, after stopping in I would say 6 out of 10 sloppy-scale, she pulled right out (going up a mound)

CONS: I have had 2 instances where a nail has jammed itself into the tread, leading to immediate deflation.* My local Mom and Pop tire shop said these are discontinued and any remaining are ~320$ a piece. After about 20 thousand miles, the noise is a bit more noticeable, very slightly.

I rotate my tires about every 5,000 miles and the average tread on the 4 currently in use is ~

* 100% could be user error
