Tire rotation at every oil change?

I took my 05 4R SE V8 for first oil change. It was my mistake that I did not read the routine maintenance manual. Well, the service staff at Saint Louis dealership recommended tire rotation ($33 approx) at every oil change and that seems to be true per service manual.
What do you all think? Have you all done the tire rotation every 5000 miles?

they recommend for all cars to have the tires rotated every 5,000 miles. on my Camry that has been the case and I've done it religiously. When I get my 4runner next month I plan to keep the same schedule, though I may get the runner aligned more... just because of the increased possibility of it getting out of alignment due to the nature of a family sedan vs. offroading SUV

Oil changes at the early 5000 mile interval per the service schedule, and rotote the tires. I can't bring myself to do oil changes at the 7500 mile interval, even though the truck doesn't see any severe operating conditions.

On a rear or awd cars it is not as important to rotate that frequently. You will get the most from your tires by letting them spend time on all 4 corners. On a fwd car you want to do at least every 5k to keep the front from wearing prematurely. $33 sounds awfuly high to just swap your tires. A lot of tire shops will do it for free just to get you in the door.

well they say its safe to use dino oil and do 5K oil changes, I always use full synthetic Mobil 1 and still do 5K changes... though I'm sure I could stretch it to 7.5K but I'd rather be safe and have a much longer lasting vehicle than be sorry and have problems in a relative short period of time. Besides getting under the car for the oil change at 5K is a good time to poke around and look at the various under-carriage parts i.e bushings, boots, and other things. Especially those pesky CV Boot's...

IMO, tire rotation every 5k miles is overkill for most drivers, 7.5k is more reasonable. I didn't rotate my Dunflops until 15k (now at 31k) and they're worn perfectly even. I rotated the rear to the front as they have slightly less tread. Maintaining proper tire pressure and making sure that they're balanced are key factors. Rotating the tires more frequently might be required if you drive aggressively, fail to maintain proper tire pressure, or go off-roading alot (might need alignment also). Don't get me wrong, rotating tires is a good thing, but at $33 every 5k, I would've spent $33x6= $198 by now. That's almost the cost of the 4 Dunflops. Of course, $33 is a bit steep and there are other places that would do them alot cheaper. It costs me $0 to rotate my tires other than the $100 torque wrench I bought. Anyhow, my Dunflops should last to about 45k or 50k miles, but I'm ditching them before this winter for some Revos!

As soon as I bought my 2003 4R, I got into Walmart tire service plan and paid $40 for all tires (service plan only). That includes unlimited tire rotation and balancing till the end of tire life. So far they did a good job (I guess so) and I am on 32K miles on the tires with even wear on all four tires. Maintains the tire pressure @ 34PSI.

I rotate my tires every oil changes. Pay a one-time fee at the tire shops and you'll be set for the life of the tire.
