tire size confuzey

whats up guys, hate to sound like that noob.. but i am.

i wana put some beefier tires on my SR5, just trying to figure out what size i should be looking for.

i have stock 16" rims, i want the tallest and widest tire i can fit on a stock rim with no lift or anything. tread size/pattern isnt too important because i dont take it off road very much anymore since my tranny/driveshaft issue. i just want it to look nice and brawn.

the ones i have on now are already taller than the stock size, but i think i can fit more tire in there. i know my options are limited since i dont have 17" rims, but i figured there was a size i could aim for.

What size do you currently have?? When my truck was stock, it had 265/75/R16's on it......I believe that as big as you can go on stock suspension..........

Actually the 3rd gens that had 16" wheels came with 265/70-16 (31s) You can go up to 265/75-16 (32s). You may be able to go to a 285/175-16 (33s) but they will probably rub a fair amount. Oh yeah, the 285s will probably rub the UCAs so you will need a small spacer.

Some brands run bigger than other brands.

265/75/16s (32s) are generally the largest tires people recommend. However, cj80cruiser recently had to fit 285/75/16 (33s) under his stock rig for a short period of time. Took a bit of trimming and a BFH, but he got it done.

Seems to be fine for on-road use, but may cause issues off-road. Also, it will help everyone else help you if you put your rig stats (year, trim, mods, etc) in your sig so we know what you're working with :bigok:
