Tire size on stock rims

I am kind of a newbie in the whole modification thing, so i have a few questions that may seem 'dumb' to some people, but please try to help as much as possible.

So, first off i am getting ready to install a daystar 2.5/1.5 spacer kit and im trying to decide on the tire size. I have decided that i want a 'rugged' look and a tire size of 32-33 inches, while keeping my stock rims. I know that with 33's i would need to do some trimming. I am a little pressed for cash right now so im deciding to buy these tires gently used. I have been deciding between a set of 285/75/16's (50% tread) and 32/10.5/16's (90% tread).

So here are my questions:
1. will both of these tires fit on my stock 16'' wheels? (im not sure how to compare the two different formats for the tire specifications, if someone could explain that to me i would appreciate it as well)
2. will i still need to trim a lot if i go with the 32's?
3. other than appearance, are spidertrax necessary for me to fully rotate these tires? (remember im pressed for cash and spidertrax arent cheap)
4. Which ones would YOU choose??

A 285/75 is about equal to 32.8" x 11.2".

1. Whether or not they'll fit your rims depends on the rim's width.

2. Can't help you with how much trimming you may need.

3. Spidertrax ?? You mean wheel spacers ? What makes you think you need spacers?

4. I'd base the decision on the brand and tread pattern.

If you're planning on running 285's (33's) or something similar on a lifted 4th gen without any other major upgrades/modifications then you're going to need wheel spacers (spidertrax) to avoid UCA rubbing.

Trimming on 33's will be about 2" across the front edge inside the wheel well. And afterwards you can drill new holes to anchor the liner farther up.

How can you tell by the tire size how wide the rims should be? Or can you? I believe my rims are 16x7

The stock 16x7.5 should be fine,guys run 285s on the 17x7.5,with 285s you will need to do quite a bit of trimming and possibly removing all the mudflaps.With the 32s trimming won't be so aggressive.With 285s the Spidertrax will be necessary to keep the tires from rubbing the upper control arms.You didn't state whether the tires were all-terrain or mud tires.With the more aggressive blocks on the mud tires you will have to figure out where the tires rub the most,then trim accordingly.

With the rig your mounting them on,will the truck see more street duty or moderate off roading? If you only wheel occasionally get the A/Ts,if you wheel a lot and like playing in mud or like crawling rocks get the M/Ts.:thumb3:

Why do you guys use the term Spidertrax like it's a noun ? ?

It's just the name of a company that sells 4x4 parts, including wheel spacers.
Most every 4x4 dealer sells wheel spacers.

Spidertrax is a noun, its a proper noun. It is a specific thing. So that is why we use it as a noun, because it is one.:roadkill:

Spidertrax isn't a term, it's a brand. And other companies make similar products but they're not all the same.

Instead of saying someone has Goodyear Wrangler tires should we just say they have tires like the brand doesn't matter? It matters.

Exactly, it's a company that sells offroad products, but people are using it as a term (noun). The term "spidertrax " does not equal "wheel spacer".
