Tire size question?

Going to purchase some new tires and have decided on the Nitto Terra Grappler. I know people are split on their performance compared to the BFG's but they fit my price range. Currently have 265/65R17 on right know and was going to buy a set of 265/75R17. Most of my driving will be road but would want to do some off road stuff as well. Will I regret not going with the 285/70/R17? Installing ome lift in the next week or two.

Where to start...
After having BFG All Terrain T/A KO's in 265/70R17 w/ a Cornfed 3/2 Lift, I have a few comments:

The BFG tires create quite a bit of an irritating sound, don't get great mileage, wear unevenly, and have a very square shoulder that makes cornering on wet pavement not so great.

The new 265/70R17 Nitto Terra Grapplers I put on are more quiet, seem to get about equal or better mpg, look like the tread blocks are more connected and stable, and have a more rounded shoulder.

For me its really about the type of driving we typically do. I'd say 95% of our driving is pavement, the other 5% dirt roads pulling a trailer with dirtbikes and atvs. For me the Nitto is a much better tire for my application. A person who does lots of loose dirt, would most likely prefer the BFG.

One other thing to note: the BFG's tend to hang onto small gravel ALOT. I've driven from Reno in my F350 (which has BFG's) to San Francisco and still had gravel stuck in the tires when I got home. The whole way home every 10 minutes or so you'd hear a rock let loose and smack the fenderwell at a nice high rate of speed.

the nittos will be good on or off road in either size you decide on. probably get more miles out of em too. hey, but BFGs are great too. if your doing a 3/2 lift, 265/70 might look a tiny bit small to you, id go with the the 285 , trim alittle, & move inner fender forward,. they ll fill the wheel wells out better, but maybe lower your mpg. 275 wouldnt be bad either. ya staying with stock the wheels? if not, dont forget to go for the right backspacing so ya wont need wheel spacers. pics afterward, good luck with it.

How much lift will you get from the OME ????

I would do the lift and then figure out tires . I would like to get a set of Nitto TG also , I personally would like to stay with 265/70/17's since I don't need to spend more money on gas since I drive a lot .

Are you getting a P or LT rated tire ??

Little late, already bought the tires. They are P rated. Should add 2.5 to 3 inches of lift after the install.
