tire suggestion for 03 sr5

I recently bought an 03 4runner. it came with almost new all-season tires so they are in good conditions but...well, they just plainly suck even the rain (let alone snow).

i don't really wanna have to switch summer/winter tires so i've been looking at some all-terrain tires. the original size was 265/65-17.

1. would it cause any big problems switching the size up to 265/70-17?

2. any tire suggestions. i've looked at the firestone destination ats and wrangler silent armor. to be honest, i know they are supposed to be good tires but their tread is not very deep. so i've started to look into models like the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO and procomp all terrain (these last ones even have the severe weather rating). My off-roading consists mostly of trails and snow season is now under way. I live in WV and even though I love the place, they have no idea how to clean roads here. I need something with some nice deep treads (without looking goofy!) and traction. Noise isn't my main concern as long as I dont sound like an 18 wheeler.

I would highly recommend that you at least consider the Nokian Vatiiva A/T based upon your driving conditions. The Nokian WR may be another good choice, but they are about $50 more per tire than the Vatiiva.

The Vatiiva A/T has a higher load rating, a higher speed rating, deeper tread depth and longer treadwear warranty (60k miles) than the well-respected Bridgestone Dueler REVO A/T, but they were $60 per tire cheaper in my experience.

My Vatiivas are new, and so I can't personally tell you how they hold up over time, but so far they have been VERY impressive, especially in the snow (Nokian is a tire company from Finland that specializes in world-class snow tires). Every other review that I was able to find on the Internet was very good too. Check out their website for more info.

I have owned two other sets of Nokian snow tires for other vehicles, and they are/were fantastic tires.
