Tire Treadwear Observations

Hi everyone,

I would like to get your input on your tire tread life experiences as I will be looking to upsize soon but I still want long life.

Currently I have the 265/70/16 Michelin LTX M/S tires which are less than half worn after 30 K miles.

What kind of life can I expect from the following (mostly interested in AT tires):

BFG AT KO
Nitto Terra Grappler
Goodyear MTR
Any other tire you like

Why change? You've got one of the best, if not the best tires on your vehicle.

My two sets have been extremely long wearing and totally reliable with excellent performance.

The LTX M & S is my go-to tire!

Wish I could say the same about these horrible Dunlops. I just hit 30K miles and I'm going to need new tires in the next month or two.

I love them too but I want to upsize and want a more aggressive look.

I am even considering the LTX A/T which are excellent as well (one set lasted me 70K miles on my Dodge pickup) but the largest size is 265/75/16.

I've had my set of NTG's for almost 19K now and I've yet to rotate them. They have about the same tread wear all around (I'd say 20% wear). Although the front set has more wear on the edges of the tires due to the on-ramps that I take to and from work every week. Around here, our freeway ramps are mostly clover designs and I take my truck to the limit on them. I'm sure if you drive "normal", you wouldn't have the same wear as I do.

Bottom line, none of the M/Ts will last beyond 40-50K miles. BFG AT KO will outlive any M/Ts. I would also look at Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor. I have heard that Nittos do last a long time too...probably on par with REVOs.
