Tire/Wheel combo....Fitment questions

I have seen this asked and have asked myself but I have yet to see a for sure answer on the subject. I want to run a 285/75/16 Goodyear Druatrac on my stock 4runner 5 spokes that I see a ton of people running. Most people say you need to run a spacer to clear the UCA. However, there are a few people running them that has pictures up and no mention of spacers in their sig. Now maybe they didn't mention it or maybe they have a tire that clears the UCA, i don't know.

When I had my 4th Gen everyone at the time said theres no way to run the 285/70/17 NTG's without spacers on the stock wheels. Well I bought them anyway and they bolted right up.

So here is my questions..........
With the stock toyota 4runner 5 spoke rims, with the 285/75/16 Goodyear Duratracs and a OME 881/891 combo on a 97 SR5....do I NEED to run a spacer?

secondly.....are you speaking from experience or are you just saying it because thats what everyone else says as well?

any help is appreciated......thanks guys. I just don't want to spend another $200 on spidertrax if they're not needed.

I ran 285/75 16 BFG All-terrains on stock 3-split spokes. They have the same specs as the newer 5 star design though, so 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other.

The BFG's would just barely rub the UCA's at full lock with no spacers. Anything less than full lock and they were fine. I put some 1" spacers on all 4 corners for aesthetics....and then they had plenty of clearance. However I had to trim my front bumper and fender flares so they wouldn't rub after I added the spacers.

I have 285/75/16 Duratracs on my stock limited 5 spokes. Unfortunately, I had gone the route of NOT getting spacers prior to install and regretted it haha. Once we bolted them up, neither myself nor my installer, were comfortable with the lack of clearance bc it looked like the side lugs were going to rub pretty badly. Luckily he had some 2" spacers (all he had in stock) to get me through til he could get some 1.25" ones in and trade them out. Plenty of clearance w/ the 1.25" spacers and nice, aggressive stance.
That was my experience w/ the same tires and same wheels in question, FWIW. Hope that helps some. Oh, and specs and what not in my sig. Good luck!

Edit: I believe a few people are running just some 1/4" spacers from somewhere. IIRC, I think Elton H is one of them, so maybe he'll chime in too.

Thats the info im looking for thank you. Do you guys think the 1/4" spacers that wheelers offroad sells would be enough or should I do the spidertrax?
