Tire/Wheel Newbie

Eventually I'd like to get new tires and maybe new wheels. I got my T4R used with 68k miles.

The wheels are Bridgestone Duelers A/T.

31x10.5R15

What size are these tires? How do I read the tire sizes?

I've heard of REVOs being really good, what is the difference between REVOs and the tires I have.

Oh by the wya, I mainly drive on the streets however in the near future I hope to start off roading. So this mgiht affect the tires.

Look to tirerack.com...

for their specifications. They will lsit their sixe charts and tables. 31x10.5x15 is 31 inches in diameter, 10.5 inches across the tire, and 15 inch wheels.

Metric measurements like 265/70/17 is 265mm across, 70% of the width is the height called the aspect ratio, and fits a 17 inch wheel. this tire is about 31.7 inch tire depending on the make and model. Tirerack's chart will give you the outside diameter and sectional width in inches for you to compare, but notice that the wideth may vary a bit depending on the width of wheel used.

Revo is Bridgestonebest AT tire, and nothing like their older Dueler model. Again, go to tirerack to see the pictures and read the reviews.

I would go with the Revo or BFG AT ( which I'm very partial to ) even though I just had to try Revo's on my 06 since reading so much about them.

There are REVO LTs in that exact size (31'X10.5"x15"), I have them on my Taco. Can't get a better tire!

Again, take a good look at the CR (I don't agree with alot of CRs ratings and some of the ways they rate thing) ratings for these tires and you will see that the Nitto was ranked #1 because of the price (rightfully so). Also, I was refering to the REVO LTs and stand by my statement "Can't Get a Bettter Tire".

Nowhere in the ratings or the article did they say or show that the rating was even partly related to price. Price was not part of the equation. So unless you can show me the info for that claim the nitto's are BETTER for less.

So far I like my Revo's 265/70/17 but only have 500 mile's on them. There is no need for the "E" rated tire on the 4R IMO. I wish they would have a "C" rated tire in the Revo.

I have the regular dueller AT in my wife's Escape 4x4 and she think's they work realy nice as far as traction in the snow & rain. I've never tried them since I don't drive that truck much at all. I can say this , they are much better than the Continential SUV tire's that it came with.

What's that translate into?

I know 15 inch rims.

But why isn't it like 275/60/15. I'm confused haha

Nittos are a little more aggressive than the Revos for off road but if you don't really off road the Bridgestones might be the better choice and they have a 50k mileage warranty.

If you do off road but your truck is still a daily driver the Nittos have very nice pavement (wet and dry) manners which is where the BFGs A/Ts fall short in my experiences and many others. BFGs don't have a great tread pattern that evacuates water very well and hydroplanes quite easily. Nittos or the Revos don't suffer from this at even solid highway speeds.

BFGs also hit the wallet harder than a set of the Nittos or Bridgestones.
