Tired of That Front Diff Drain Plug?

This has been mentioned here and there but it's worth a thread for visibility. (Caveat - I saw this on another forum and have not tried it yet.)

Lexus p/n 90341-24016 supposedly fits the 4th Gen 4R's front diff and uses a 14mm bolt. It's available here or here.

That first link was interesting - I usually use Toyota's similar site and pick up my parts at a local dealer that offers a substantial online discount. For this plug, 3 Lexus dealers came up - 2 here in metro Atlanta and 1 in Augusta. MSRP is ~$13; the Atlanta dealers' prices are ~$20 and ~$24. :pound: I have a meeting in Augusta later this year so I made a note to order one to pick up there for $10.32.

Note to mods - my original thread had symbols in the title that cause an error message but I can't delete it. Please do so if possible. Thx.

The original drain plug always comes right off with an impact for me. It doesn't even take much impacting. I think yesterday it took two clicks of the impact wrench and it was loose.

Yea the bolts with fluid behind it are the only ones Im sure arent seized on mine - oil drain, front diff, center diff, rear diff and transmission.

Though the transmission bolt is really tight - theres not a lot of room to get in there with a socket and ratchet

I'd have to go double check the specific part # but I can confirm there's a Lexus plug that fits the 4th gen. Same washer/gasket fits on it to seal everything up tight too.

Been running it for 10k and at least one fluid change (CV axles forced me to open it up early) and it's nice and easy to spin off with a socket.

Reviving this...my meeting was postponed so I never ordered the plug. The meeting is back on for early January so I went to the Lexus parts site to buy it, planning as before to pick it up and save the shipping. But Lexus has a free shipping promotion right now and a discount so I got the plug for $10.11 shipped. I used this site.

EDIT: Fit has been verified by another member. As I noted before, I am going by information from another forum and have not personally tried this plug as of yet to verify 4th Gen fitment.

Just ordered one. Supposed to be good for the 5th gen as well. Thanks for this!
