I have 40K on my runner and the Dunlops, I was just told by the dealer I need to replace them. Doesnt that seem pretty odd?????????????

I know tire life depends on how you drive, where you drive and how often, but dang, it seems I should have gotten more mileage out of the dan tires

Did you do the penny test? It might be the dealer just trying to get you to buy tires from them...

Remember that they are the OEM tires, too, so they typically won't last as long as the tires you replace them with.

That is pretty good for OEM Dunlops...what is the Treadwear rating on them?? Isn't it like 320 or something?? If so, then 40K miles is pretty good.

With 17k on my Dun's I'll be happy to safely get 30k (on a V6 4WD). They didn't have deep tread like a AT tire to begin with.

Just put new tires on my old '90 Runner that my daughter has now in WV -- had amazingly 120+k miles on Michelin LTX 235/75x15" tires. Probably should have been replaced a year ago to be safe but not her priority I guess. What a fight with CosTCo to replace with same size since their book demands 225x15! The they aired them up at 4 different pressures ranging from 31 to 24 psi. Hope the BFG las 1/2 last long!

I've got 55k on my original dunlops, getting new tires this week. There is 4/32" of tread left as of last week. Mine are all interstate miles though.

What is the penny test???

I replaced mine at 48k w/revos only because there was a buy 3 get 1 free special. The dunlops had enough tread on them to last to at least 60k miles. Mine wore perfectly and had no irregular wear at all. Decent to good tires, but not great.

Just replaced my OEM Dunlops at 60,000. No complaints for what they were. Had great wear and pavement handling for most of their life. I keep track of my air pressure and rotate tires every other oil change. Probably could of gotten another 3 or 4 thousand on them if it was summer but winter should arrive anytime so I bought some Cooper ATR's in 265/70/17. Am so far pleased with them. Will post up more info when I get some snow and off road time on them. In the rain they have been great.

I agree, I havent had any problems with mine. I rotated every 5k miles and maintained the pressure. Wasnt until recently that they started slipping in the rain, but any tire with 55k miles will do that.
