Ok I have searched for a while and I am getting mixed responses. I just ordered a lift from cornfed for my 05 sport T4R. After installing the lift I will be getting new tires. I was planning on going with 285/70/17 on my stock rims but I have seen some post that say this is not possible. Can anyone shed some light on this? I dont really want to get new rims but also want the 33"s. I read on burtmans website where I bought my lift that you can go with the 285's but I have also seen otherwise in this forum. Will they rub? If they do can you fix this problem with wheel spacers? I have heard that wheel spacers are somewhat faux pas in the 4wheeling community. Thanks

Remember bigger is not always better. Do you need a 33 over a 32? Are you going for looks or if you plan to take it off road what type of wheeling do you do? I only go off road a few time a year and so can live with 32's. I had to fight the temtation to go with the larger but took into concideation the fact the 33 would hurt my millage and put a bit more stress on the rig. Just depends on your goals for the rig. Any thing other than stock is a huge step up and good driver can do just as much with a smaller tire.

Isnt there someone on the board running 285/70/17 BFG AT's on a titanium silver SE with the cornfed lift? I know I have seen pics of it somewhere on the board and if I recall the owner did not report any major rubbing.

If you plan to offroad a lot, you'll learn to appreciate a larger tire. Thus 285's will be nice to have even though you gotta trim a large portion of a lot of parts.
If you offroad once in awhile, then you can't go wrong with either 275's or 265/70/17 or 265/75/16's. Hope that helps.
Regardless, the more you offroad, the more rubbing you'll encounter as you're really testing the limits of your suspension stuffing those tires up and down.
Go with what suits your needs and not what others are doing. Follow your own destiny and get what you feel works for the type of stuff you do with your 4runner.

The cornfed lift I got is the 3" in front and 2" in back. I am considering getting 275/70/17's but if I only need to get some wheel spacers I would definatly consider getting 285/70/17's. I plan on off roading quite a bit. I also will be going up to the mountain snowboarding so I need something for the snow. Thanks

After taking a good look at these tires I've come to the conclusion that these tires are great for off-road and only fair for on-road. If you compare these tires to the REVOs you would be sacrificing on-road handling, braking, ride, wet traction, and tread-wear. They are allot noisier, and will hydroplane easier. These tires are what they are, GREAT off-road tires. They are GREAT on rocks, in the mud and are incredibly durable. The exact diameter is 32.4", which only gives approx. 3/8" more clearance over the 265/70/17 REVOs. That 3/8" is why they touch. Yes, it looks like you won't have trim but they do touch (not an issue).

I have decided that I am going to go with the 275/70/17's. For the off roading that I will be doing I believe they will be just fine. The hassle of all the cutting and worrying about rubbing and wheel spacers just for another half inch I do not think is worth it in my case. Plus the 275's are cheaper. No I just need to pick a tire. I was thinking about the BFG at/ko's. Anyone with any other suggestions? Thanks for the insight.

This is not true, it is misinformation. It's also not too clear as many people who have moved to bigger tires speak of trimming vs cutting, so again you ought to be specific. There is no timming or cutting required for 275 MTR's in my experience, using a 2.5 spacer lift. Some people (search) find it necessary to cut a lot out for 285's. Some find some minor trimming. Depends upon what suspension and wheel applications they are using. Again it is not so black and white.
And I'm not sure if its directed at me, as it's hard to tell from your phrasing, but I had an alignment done five days ago thank you.
