Tires and lift ?'s

Hey everyone,
I'm looking into some lifts and I've narrowed it down to a Toytech 3" or an OME 2 1/2. I plan on putting 33's on and was hoping someone had some experience with a similar combination and might shed some light for me. I Wan the 3" but I'very never done a diff drop or sway bar move before. Any suggestions would be great. Lastly, I'm torn between two sets of tires; either general grapplers or BFG all terrain. If I had more money I would get something else but trying to wor with what I got. Again any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks everyone from San Diego.

I'll state the obvious, which is there is a sticky with much suspension information on it up at the top of this section.

I am running the OME lift with 285/70/17's (33") tires. I also have adjustable upper control arms. This is worth mentioning because a lift is great, but so is not rubbing tire against metal Consider either chopping your body mount or getting adjustable upper control arms so you can set your front tires further forward to avoid rubbing.

I couldn't be happier with both the tires and the OME lift. I've had the setup for about 6 months now. The tires have done great on the rocks and in the mud, and probably more importantly, on the street where I drive 99% of the time. Recently we received some snow in our neck of the woods and I had a chance to try these tires on snow. I found they performed much better than I expected.

I find the overall ride of the OME's to be stiff, but not oppressive. Offroad I have no issues with bottoming. The truck rides like a cadillac compared to my old 1st generation 4Runner offroad.

I didn't bother with a diff drop after much reading. I just can't find evidence where it matter one way or another, and so for me, I decided to leave it where it's at. Really just personal preference on that IMO. Sway bar adjustment is simple. I removed my front sway bar and left the rear alone. I've read the rear sway bar links can be lengthened with some simple hardware from your local hardware store. Otherwise, there don't seem to be gains with removing it.

My biggest concern through all of this was how I would haul the 33" tire around with me. I was able to squish a deflated new BFG 33" up under the truck in the stock location with the help of a ratchet strap. Whatever you do, I recommend having as big of a spare as you can underneath.
