Tires for stock 17" - small selection

So I've been looking to get new tires for my truck. I have a 2004 V6 SE with the 17" "chrome" stock rims. I wanted to get BFG AT's but the guy at America's Tires said I would have to go to a 16" rim to get a BFG AT in there. I checked out every major manufacture website and there is really only about 5 Tires to choose from that would fit on a stock 4Runner. 2 from Dunlop who I can't stand, 2 BFG's, a radial terrain and can't remember the other, a Michelin and a Goodyear NEW Fortera which look cool but are EXPENSIVE! I really want BFG AT's since I know personally they are proven and will take abuse. But I think the only thing worth throwing down money on is the new goodyear or just the radial BFG's. What do you guys think?

I have the Michelin Cross Terrains and love them, good all-around road tire. But since you're looking at AT's you might want to look into the Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO's. Those come in the stock 265/65R17 size or the 70R17 size and a lot of members have a lot of praise for them.
 
I have the Revos which are great tires but you can get the BFG ATs. The guy is crazy. They aren't available in "stock" size but you can get the 265/70/17 and they will fit fine, even in the spare. There are plenty of threads around about them fitting.

I know they are available in stock size as that's what I have but trdtim was asking about BFGs so that's why I said 265/70/17 will work and is available.

So there won't be any rubbing at all?
 
Thanks to everyone for all the help. I've been going back and forth for about 3 months now because that idiot said they wouldn't fit.
 
You don't have to worry about rubbing if you go with the 265/70/17. They fit just fine and will fir the spare location as well.

I swapped out and put 265/70/17 Revo's on mine right away. No rubbing at all and even replaced the spare with a 70 series.

Revo's are really nice tire's , they ride really well and traction is good,I do prefer the look of the more aggressive BFG though.

Also the 265/70 series will probably be cheaper that the 265/65 series , because of the amount of tire's manufactured in that size . Atleast that is what I was told.
 
Here is mine with the BFG 265/70's, only rubs very little on a very fast u-turn...

Got the tires on and they look great. $680 installed. I think I got a pretty good deal. They do rub however. If the tires aren't straight going over speed bumps and even backing out of stalls and turning the wheel they rub. Anyone else experience this? I'm hoping once the tread goes down it will go away.
 
i have no rubbing at all over speed bumps, slow or fast.. only hard braking during a u-turn have i noticed a slight rub...

Looks like they may be rubbing on those plastic "upside down pyramid" shape things that are right below the bumper on either end. Right below the front turn signals. They also get VERY close to the upper A-Arms. But yeah, backing out of stalls and turning the wheel all the way to either side, I hear it rubbing.
