Tires - help please!

I recently purchased a 2006 4runner last month and after a week or so of driving it, I noticed that my steering was pulling while I was driving and got worse with higher speeds.

Well I took it into Les Schwab to get an alignment and to my surprise.. they said it was perfect and that they think it was my tires causing it to pull.

So here I am, with tires that have great tread on them still but the pulling to the left and to the right drives me absolutely nuts.

Anyone have any wonderful tire suggestions?

How about low tire pressure on the side it was pulling to? Just a thought.

So it's pulling both ways? Could be ruts in the road surfice, bad tires, air pressure too high, or you just need time to get used to it. If the caster is low (alignment angle) it will feel like this as well.

I like the Michelin LTX tires. They ride good and wear for a long time. Well worth the extra money if you plan to keep the vehicle. I had 90K on a set once on a Suburban. Couldn't believe they still had tread when I sold it.

I had tires once go bad on me where the belts separated from the rubber. Felt like the front end was about to fall out of the car. Seriously, almost called a tow truck. Didn't believe the dealer when he told me it was the tires. Sure enough replaced them and all was fine.

They will know how to diagnose which tire is causing the issue. They will start by switching your right front tire to left front position on wheel and vice versa. Then they will drive the car and see if the pull follows. If it does it is caused by one of those tires in the front. If the pull does not shift directions then you know it is a rear tire causing issues and start the process of cross rotating them to figure out which one pulls. You need to pay close attention and see which direction it is pulling. You need to go drive the runner on a variety of flat roads to determine which way it is pulling. The roads here in Oregon are really crowned (tilted for water run off) and often people mistake the crown of the road for a pulling vehicle.Let us know which way it pulls and then we can go from there!
